Dance Mat Typing Level 4 is the final part of the course. In Stages 10, 11, and 12, children practice six bottom row keys and learn how to type with better speed and accuracy.
These bottom row keys are placed below the middle row. At first, typing them may feel a little hard because fingers need to move down from the home row. Sometimes, thumbs may move away from the space bar while learning. With regular practice, finger movement becomes easier and more natural.
Stage 10 – Learning X and Z Keys
In Stage 10, children learn the last two alphabet letters: X and Z.
- The X key is typed with the left ring finger.
- The Z key is typed with the left little finger.
Both keys are on the bottom left side of the keyboard. This stage also gives extra practice for earlier keys. By the end of Stage 10, children know all the letters from A to Z.

Stage 11 – Learning Full Stop and Slash

Stage 11 teaches children how to use punctuation keys.
- The full stop (.) key is pressed with the right ring finger.
- The slash (/) key is pressed with the right little finger.
These keys are on the bottom right side of the keyboard. Children also begin typing short words and sentences. This helps improve finger movement, typing rhythm, and confidence.

Stage 12 – Shift Keys and Final Typing Test
Stage 12 is the last stage of Dance Mat Typing. In this stage, children learn how to use the Shift keys.
With Shift, they can:
- type capital letters
- use symbols like question marks (?)

For example:
- Shift + letter = Capital letter
- Shift + / = ?
At the end of Stage 12, children take a final typing test. This test checks:
- typing speed
- typing accuracy
Dance Mat Typing Level 4 helps children complete the full keyboard and become more confident while typing. It is a fun and useful way to build strong typing skills.
