Before learning about the 3 stages in Dance Mat Typing – Level 1, you should clearly understand the keyboard rows explained below.

How to Keep Your Hands on the Keyboard

  • Left-hand fingers rest on A, S, D, and F.
  • Right-hand fingers rest on J, K, L, and ;.
  • Thumbs rest lightly on the Space bar.
  • Keep your wrists straight and relaxed.

Stage-wise Typing Practice

Stage 1 – Home Row Keys

In this stage, practice typing only the Home Row keys.

Practice Keys:
F, D, S, A, J, K, L, ;, G, H

This practice helps your fingers get used to the Home Row.

Stage 2 – Top Row (E, I) + Home Row

In this stage, practice typing the letters E and I from the Top Row. At the same time, continue practicing the Home Row keys. This helps your fingers move smoothly and confidently.

Stage 3 – Top Row (R, U) + Home Row

In this stage, practice typing the letters R and U from the Top Row. Continue practicing the Home Row keys as well. Keep practicing until you feel comfortable and confident then go to Dance Mat Typing Level 2
